When to call a pest professional

A single sighting is not the whole story

One insect near an open door tells you less than repeated activity in the same room. Before reaching for a broad treatment, note what happened and check simple causes such as open food, standing water, gaps, or clutter.

Signs that support asking for an assessment

• Activity continues after careful cleaning and practical exclusion.
• You find droppings, nesting material, shed skins, tracks, or property damage.
• The issue appears in several rooms or keeps returning.
• The source may be in a wall, attic, crawl space, or another area you cannot inspect safely.
• You are considering a pesticide but cannot identify the issue or understand the label directions.

What not to do

Do not mix products, use more than a label allows, or place a product where children or pets may reach it. A pesticide label is not a suggestion; it contains the directions and restrictions for that product.

Make the call useful

Describe the location, timing, and visible signs. Photos can help you remember details, but a provider may still need to inspect the property before identifying a cause or recommending work.
