1. Identify the business
Ask for the legal business name, contact details, and the person responsible for the work. Do not rely on a logo, vehicle, badge, or search listing alone.
2. Verify credentials
Use Kentucky's structural pest-control resources and ask the provider to explain which credentials apply to the proposed work. Insurance should also be verified rather than assumed.
3. Ask for the evidence
A recommendation should connect to what the provider observed. Ask what was found, what may have caused it, and why the proposed method fits.
4. Understand safety and preparation
Ask which products or methods may be used, what the label requires, and what people and pets should do. Keep the written information.
5. Read the complete scope
Check the price, included areas, number of visits, exclusions, follow-up, cancellation terms, and anything you must do. Get changes in writing.
6. Decide without pressure
A referral does not oblige you to hire. If the explanation is vague or a material fact cannot be verified, take time to ask more questions or compare another provider.
