Before the visit

Write down where and when you noticed the issue. Make relevant areas reasonably accessible, but do not disturb material that could expose you to a bite, sting, pesticide, or contaminated debris.

During the assessment

The provider may ask about the home's layout, past activity, moisture, storage, repairs, and previous treatments. It may inspect likely entry points, affected rooms, and sheltered spaces that relate to the signs you described.

Questions a recommendation should answer

  • What evidence did you find?
  • What do you believe is causing the issue?
  • What work do you propose, and why?
  • Which products or methods would be used?
  • What should people and pets do before, during, and after the work?
  • What follow-up is included, and what is not?

Before you agree

Ask for the scope, cost, safety information, and follow-up terms in writing. If an answer is unclear, pause and ask again. You do not need to authorize work simply because an inspection occurred.
